These data are collected independently and as a labour of love. We rechecked them tons of times, but there might be mistakes. If you spot them, contact us and we will be happy to modify them.

Data are shared in three forms: excel document; pdf report; infographics. We also collect qualitative data (interviews with artistic directors). We do not publish the interviews, but we use them in our articles. Please, ask for our texts, if interested.

While we collected the full names of the musicians involved in the seasons, we erased the full names of the musicians in the shared excel document. We will be happy to share the full database (just contact us and ask, maybe tell us what you need them for), also because the names of these musicians are no secret. Yet, since minorities are so underrepresented, we felt it was not right to indiscriminately share on the internet the names of young musicians and single them out based on gender and race.

IMPORTANT: Our data describe the world in binary categories (male/female, white/non white), but the world is not binary and it would require a more nuanced and flexible vocabulary! We used binary categories to have solid quantitative data and exclusively to draw attention to a problem: the systematic discrimination based on race and gender. Also, the assignations male/female, white/non white have been done by the two of us, sometimes in consultation with other Italians. Our gender and ethnical assignations are extremely localized and pertains to what is perceived as male/female and white/non white in Italy and Italy only.

It would be awesome to have identity data collected directly from musicians instead of data harvested arbitrarily by us. This way we will be able to be more precise and move beyond binary categories!

Questi dati sono raccolti indipendentemente e come un lavoro di passione e interesse. Li abbiamo ricontrollati molte volte, ma potrebbero esserci degli errori. Se li noti, contattaci e saremo felici di modificarli.

I dati sono in tre forme: documento excel; report in formato pdf; infografica. Raccogliamo anche dati qualitativi (come le interviste con i direttori artistici). Non pubblichiamo le interviste, ma le usiamo nei nostri articoli. Potete chiederci questi testi, se interessati.

Anche se abbiamo raccolto i nomi completi dei musicisti ospiti delle stagioni, abbiamo cancellato i loro nomi nel documento excel condiviso. Saremo felici di condividere il database completo: i nomi di questi musicisti non sono segreti. Puoi contattarci e chiederceli, spiegando per cosa ti servono. Dal momento che le minoranze sono così poco rappresentate, abbiamo ritenuto che non fosse giusto condividere in rete, in modo indiscriminato, i nomi dei giovani musicisti e categorizzarli in base al sesso e alla razza.

IMPORTANTE: i nostri dati descrivono il mondo in categorie binarie (maschio / femmina, bianco / non bianco), ma il mondo non è binario e richiederebbe un vocabolario più sfumato e flessibile! Abbiamo usato categorie binarie per avere dati quantitativi fondati ed esclusivamente per attirare l’attenzione esclusivamente su un problema: la discriminazione sistematica basata sulla razza e sul genere. Inoltre, le assegnazioni maschili / femminili, bianche / non bianche sono state fatte da noi, a volte in consultazione con altri italiani. Le nostre assegnazioni etniche e di genere sono estremamente localizzate e riguardano ciò che è percepito solo e soltanto in Italia come maschio / femmina e bianco / non bianco.
